Description
Apital is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated senior CBTC Test and Commissioning Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be based in New York City, part of the CBTC Test & Commissioning Team coordinated by the CBTC Project Lead, and report to the Test and Commissioning Manager in one of MTA’s major CBTC projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for testing and commissioning activities of the CBTC System during the project period.
- Ensure all testing and commissioning activities fully comply with standards, contract requirements, project schedule, approved test procedures, quality, safety, and environmental objectives.
- Support/supervise Vehicle, Zone Controller, SSI (Solid State Interlocking), ATS (Automatic Train Supervision) subsystem, and system tests.
- Follow up and review with CBTC test plan, test procedure, and test reports.
- Regularly report test and commissioning progress and status to Test and Commissioning Manager.
- Supervise and manage documentation, hardware, and software configuration from the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) perspective.
- Monitor and follow up on the troubleshooting, identification, and resolution of system and subsystem issues and follow up with the problems until they are fully resolved.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Able to work under pressure during intense periods of testing and commissioning activities.
- Willing to work flexibly and efficiently to support the project, which may include working shift rotation, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to interact with CBTC suppliers and project team professionally.
Required Skills/ Knowledge
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Good knowledge of the CBTC Test & Commissioning process.
- Good knowledge of MTA CBTC I2S system.
- Working knowledge of Data Communication Networks (TCP/IP protocol), Wi-Fi protocol, and Electricity field of competence.
- Railway Operations and Signaling principles.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge
- Previous experience in Testing & Commissioning large infrastructure projects.
- Familiar with Communication Base Train Control, Automatic Train Supervision, Vehicle, Telecommunication, Platform Screen Gates, Traction Electrification, etc.
- Understanding of software configuration management.
- MTA Operation and Maintenance Processes.
- Experience and knowledge of reviewing engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
- Knowledge of Safety Critical and Related Rail Transit System environment activities.
- Railway Operations and Signaling principles.
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certificate.
